Hi Pam:
MY wife was diagnosed with Stage 4 last October. Thought it was Ovarian cancer but discovered during surgery that it originated – they believe – in the appendix and migrated into her reproductive areas. She had a complete hysterectomy and they removed as much of the scaling and tumors as possible.

Our oncologist encouraged us to get a second opinion from Vanderbilt. Their oncologists and chief pathologist reviewed all of the data and films and we traveled to Nashville to meet with the oncologist: Recommendation was for Lois not to take any treatments as they wouldn’t make a difference and just enjoy her life...what does that mean?...maybe 6 months, he said.

Our oncologist disagreed – strongly – and reminded us that "we" are not the last word! Dr. Ridenhour is a man God placed in our life. He’s young, a Christian, and a good communicator...even gave us his home email address!

Lois began treatments in November 2004. She’s had 12 extensive chemotherapy treatments (along with a punctured lung when they installed her ports, and then a major clot in her leg that hospitalized her for five days). The last CT Scan in August revealed that the cancer has stabilized. It has not moved into her organs and her blood chemistry is normal. She is not receiving any treatments or meds; other than rat poison to minimize chances of clotting. We have another CTScan scheduled for the middle of this month to see how her body is dealing on its own.

What have we made a major part of Lois’ regimen and what do we credit with much of her success in getting through these last 10 months and the cancer stabilizing? VITA-13!!! Lois mentioned just this morning how much VITA-13 has meant to her. She actually can feel her energy and emotional levels improve after taking her Vita-13 capsules. In fact, she thought about waking at 4:00 AM to take her VITA-13 and waiting for it to push her out of bed! We both agree that Prayer, Vita-13, and chemo – together – are the reasons that she’s here with us today... (Maybe even in that order)!

We’ve supplemented the Vita-13 with selenium. Other than that and Coumadin (rat poison), that’s all Lois is taking.
